Blood sampling

The following should be considered when sampling blood:

  • Medication containing hormones, cytostatics, psychopharmaceutics, and immunosuppressive substances affect the result and should therefore be noted on the sampling form.
  • No blood sampling during and up to 3 days after menstruation.
  • During radiation and chemotherapy, blood sampling should not be done until 3 weeks after terminated treatment.
  • Pregnancy prior to and during a study of treatment development should be documented.

Documentation of changes in the medication during a treatment course is fundamental for a correct interpretation of the results.

When diagnosing a treatment development, any concomitant medication should be discussed with the patients, particularly when the above mentioned substances are involved.
